Camaro ragtop in early 2011?

Back in August, General Motors Co. gave about 100 consumers a sneak peak of its future cars and trucks.

The preview included a Chevrolet Camaro convertible and GM later confirmed a convertible version of the muscle car was coming to market in the second quarter of 2011. The automaker already showed off a concept version of the Camaro convertible at last year’s auto show.

In a recent http://www.americascarshow.com/Detail.aspx?dct=14&mid=1639" target="_blank">interview on America’s Car Show, Thomas Peters, GM’s director of exterior design for global rear-wheel-drive vehicles and full-size trucks, recently told Tom Torbjornsen — whose America’s Car Show is also available on Sirius 108 and XM 139 — that the Camaro convertible remains on track.

When Torbjornsen asks when a convertible Camaro might be coming, about 32 minutes into the interview, Peters says, “I can tell you first quarter of 2011, we’re going to be introducing a convertible.”

Says Torbjornsen: “Outstanding!”

We think so, too.
