General Motors Corp. has been awarded $105 million in stimulus funds for the continued development of an electronic drive system, the White House announced Wednesday.

General Motors plans to divide the work between its White Marsh plant in Baltimore County and another in Wixom, Mich.

The effort was one of 42 eco-friendly automotive projects selected by the federal Department of Energy for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act totaling $2.4 billion.
