This week, GM leaders told Saturn dealers that funding has been allocated to build Saturn vehicles through 2012 and in some cases 2013. But they stopped short of saying Saturn would get new products and won’t be killed.

GM exerted a great deal of effort to revive the brand in recent years after letting it go stale. It has an range of recently introduced vehicles designed to better compete with Toyota and Honda, which was its original mission when created in the 1980s. Still, a dazzling sales revival hasn’t followed, leading to speculation that Saturn will be closed or sold by GM.
