General Motors has named Joseph Peter CFO for North America, effective Aug. 1.
Peter, 45, will report to Ray Young, GM’s CFO, and Troy Clarke, president for North America.
“Joe brings vast experience from his assignments across the globe,” Young said in a statement. “His diverse perspective, proven financial skills and leadership makes him a superb choice.”
Peter most recently was GM’s Asia Pacific vice president and CFO, a position he has held since 2006. He replaces David Meline, who left GM to accept a job outside the auto industry.
“Joe has intimate knowledge in running lean organizations,” Clarke said in a statement. “I look forward to his contributions here in North America as we align ourselves to fundamentally different market drivers.”
Peter has been with GM since 1984. He has been CFO of GM’s Daewoo and Saab brands and finance director at GM global purchasing and supply chain.
