LORDSTOWN — The United Auto Workers says it has agreed on a local contract with management at General Motors’ Lordstown, Ohio, assembly plant.
The plant makes small cars for Chevrolet and Pontiac about 40 miles southeast of Cleveland.
UAW Local 1112 in Lordstown said on its Web site that it agreed to a deal Wednesday night. Details haven’t been released. A GM spokesman was unavailable to discuss it.
The union hopes GM will commit to ongoing production or bringing in new car model. The UAW represents about 2,400 workers at the plant.
