AUBURN HILLS — The sticker price of the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8, Chrysler’s new limited-edition muscle car, will be $37,995.
The company will begin accepting orders for the limited-edition Challenger on Monday, with a delivery sometime in the spring. The cars will come with a numbered dash plaque.
The Challenger will be available in black, silver and Hemi orange and will feature a 6.1-liter Hemi V-8 engine. All colors will come with dual "carbon-fiber" hood stripes, bringing back memories of the original Dodge Challenger.
"The 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 offers pure American pony-car muscle," James Press, Chrysler LLC’s vice chairman and president, said in a statement Thursday. "With styling that stays true to Challenger’s original heritage, an abundance of modern amenities and cutting-edge technology, the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 will deliver the SRT credo of benchmark performance at a tremendous value."
Dodge will introduce other models of the Challenger at a later date.
The Challenger SRT8 will be built at Chrysler’s Canadian Assembly Plant in Brampton, Ont.
